Welcome:

You’ve just been notified that you’ve been hired and are now in need for an updated headshot. First off, congratulations! Things are already looking up for you. Now to get you your new headshot to represent you or as part of a team of professionals. If your employer is taking care of the expense, normally we will meet at a pre-designated spot based at a location your employer has chosen or agreed to use specifically for their brand. If you are representing yourself, then you are my priority client and the location will be a mutual decision. Most locations that are decided upon are outside and require certain lighting conditions to fulfill my obligations and for that reason, weather delays can and do happen. There are many public indoor options we can use as well based on your vision. It is VERY important to be on time and to show up photo ready.

I’ve been creating headshots for all types of professions but the majority of my clientele is from real estate brokerage teams. If you are joining one of the teams that I work with, the office liaison will provide you with the time and location and wardrobe preference. The image gallery is paid for through the brokerage and the brokerage retains the usage rights for all images delivered for marketing purposes.

For all other clients, the usage rights remain the property of the client.

The headshot portrait package includes 10 images. If you’d like to include branding images as well, that portrait package consists of 25 images with additional images available for purchase. Make the most out of your time and preparations for your portraits by upgrading your marketing library for yourself with some lifestyle images that show you in action.

Preparing for success:

My job is to capture a clear image of you that reflects how you look on arrival. Some companies use a full length image as well as headshots (from the mid thigh up) so make sure to also have a full outfit planned and plan on having your entire body photographed. When considering wardrobe, choose one that is flattering, tailored, clean, professional, and pressed. I have a Pinterest board (style guide) on my website to give you some ideas for wardrobe, hair and makeup. Your employer may have specific colors for you to wear to match their brand. Keep jewelry at a conservative level. Nails shouldn’t be distracting. Final tip: Keep in mind wind when selecting an outfit. It won’t be possible to keep a flowy dress in place if we catch a breeze.

Ladies, hair and makeup is very necessary. What I mean by that is, hair needs to be neatly groomed and makeup should be, or look professionally done. Light on skin can be very reflective due to sweat and oil. Makeup helps to even out discoloration, cover blemishes and reduce the need for retouching. For those who need a hair and makeup artist recommendation, I use Amy Shaw, Makeup Artist. Her service is not included in my fee, nor is she employed or affiliated with Keli Francis Photography. I’ve had many clients use her services and I’ve always had a great experience with her work.

Men, you can never go wrong with a suit and tie. It’s actually my personal preference and aligns with most professions. Alternative look would be to wear a nice T shirt with sports jacket and jeans. Click on my Pinterest Style Guide for some great styling options for men. Florida is hot 90% of the year so be sure to remember antiperspirant deodorant and bring a suit jacket to conceal any possible sweat marks. Don’t worry though; I’m very efficient with our time together. If you are representing yourself and do not need a uniform look to fulfill a teams photo obligation, we can discuss indoor options for your new headshot.

What to expect:

Once you arrive, I’ll take a few minutes to get to know you and obtain contact information for gallery delivery. I’ll explain the areas I’ll be utilizing for that location and give you a demonstration on how to pose and what not to do to get you the most variety and best angles. This will also allow you some time to decompress from your travels and to prepare you to be in front of the lens. Next, I’ll get settled with my camera settings and do a few quick light tests before getting started. The time it takes to create your headshots is usually less than 10 mins so the total time spent together is usually around 15-20 mins per person. Not because I’m trying to rush you but because you only need one photo to represent you and your business, and because time is valuable.

Once I’ve reviewed the images in camera and can see I have what I need, I’ll be able to show you the images in camera to get your feedback. Once the project is completed, I’ll have them edited and sent to you and your marketing director and/or employer who paid for your headshots. You’ll want to download them as soon as possible as the link does expire. Keep in mind that retouching is not included in the editing process which is why it is very important to follow the steps in Prepare For Success (above). It’s also very important to follow because no one likes having to schedule a reshoot for things that could’ve been avoided. For those wishing to add retouching, I’m very proficient in Photoshop at a reasonable rate per photo. Not everyone is accepting of their self image and this is a way to help alleviate those concerns. How you look in person IS how you’re going to look in camera. There are great insider tips I can give you for posing in more flattering ways and shooting in different angles. Most of that can be alleviated by choosing the right outfit. I ask that you keep an open mind and have clear expectations of my abilities.

Give me 5-7 business days to create your gallery. You’ll receive a link with only the best images in jpeg format all of which will be downloadable in high resolution for anyone included in the delivery process to expedite your marketing material. Once they’ve been delivered, my job is complete. It’s now up to you to choose which of the photos you want to have represent you. Here are some examples of previous sessions…
